Breaking Ground on a New Renovation and Expansion Project

Saint Francis Medical Center has exciting construction plans!

Plans are underway for an extensive renovation and expansion project at the Medical Center. Called “Building on Excellence,” this $127 million undertaking will begin in early 2013 and be completed by 2016.

The two-part construction plan will provide more focused and innovative care, plus offer countless benefits to our patients. Designed with key input from our physicians, nurses and staff, the plan involves the creation of dedicated areas and staff for orthopedics, neurosciences, rehabilitation, surgical and medical patients, and women and children’s services.

Renovation and Expansion Highlights

  • All private rooms to help control infection, create more comfort, which will fully complete our transition to all private rooms
  • Expansion of labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum rooms and an easily accessible triage unit
  • Dedicated, updated patient elevators and “patient-only” corridors
  • Private NICU rooms, supporting best practices in neonatology
  • Improved patient access through the updated south main entrance as well as an atrium lobby at the new Women and Children’s Pavilion
