Ongoing education for your organization’s leaders and employees can play an invaluable role in maintaining a safe work environment and minimizing injuries. Saint Francis Medical Center’s Services to Business offers complimentary educational programs through its Lunch and Learn series that address a range of safety concerns.
“One of the most efficient ways to provide information and bring an increased level of awareness to some of these risk factors is through these free presentations,” said Deb Spurgeon, RN, BSN, occupational health nurse at the Medical Center. “We have designed the Lunch and Learn presentations to address many of the most common issues found in the workplace.”
Spurgeon is available for presentations on a variety of health-related topics. Your organization may request a topic of choice for presentation. Program examples include:
Extreme temperature exposure – Clinical considerations for extreme heat, humidity or cold for employees who work outside or in places such as non-cooled shops or industrial freezers. Includes tips on practical safeguards and warning-sign vigilance.
Effects of stress in the workplace – Instruction on how high stress levels affect worker performance and suggested techniques to mitigate those effects.
Sleep disorders – Discussion on the impact of sleep disorders on work performance and practical tools to assess whether workers need to investigate the quality of their sleep.
Behavioral health issues in the workplace – Overview of mental health disorders, tips on increasing awareness of common disorders and education on possible causes of behaviors.
