Diagnosis

The Level III NICU at Saint Francis Medical Center has access to advanced diagnostic technology that allows for an accurate, quick assessment of premature infants and newborns to develop an effective plan of care. Diagnostic tests include:

Computerized Tomography (CT)

Imaging technique that produces precise pictures of tissue using a narrow beam of radiation. A radiologist will read the CT scan and discuss the results of the test with your baby's doctor.

Echocardiogram

A specialized form of ultrasound examination used to study the heart. A pediatric heart doctor will read the exam and discuss the results with your baby's doctor.

Septic Workup

Tests done to check for an infection (sepsis). These tests may include cultures of blood, urine, spinal fluid and other body fluids as needed. Other blood tests to evaluate for infection may be ordered
