  • Getting regular prenatal care
  • Eating a healthy diet
  • Staying active (based on physician input)
  • Quitting smoking
  • Eliminating use of alcohol and recreational drugs
  • Avoiding stress
  • Managing chronic conditions
  • Practicing good dental hygiene and getting dental care
  • Taking vitamins, especially B vitamins and folic acid, as prescribed by your physician
