The most successful The Friends of Saint Francis annual Benefit Golf Tournament was held Friday, August 27, at Bent Creek Golf Course. Funds raised – more than $192,000 and the largest amount ever – will be used to build Saint Francis Medical Center’s Pediatric Rooftop Garden.
The Pediatric Rooftop Garden at Saint Francis will be a place where children and parents can relax outside, away from the hospital environment. It is well-documented that nature has healing properties. The ability to get out into a garden where it is calm and relaxing will do much to promote the healing process.
“Patient experience goes beyond just treating the physical needs of the patient; it includes the mind, body and spirit,” says Steven C. Bjelich, FACHE-D, Saint Francis President and Chief Executive Officer. “The patients, along with their family members, are all part of the healthcare team.”
Since the tournament began 23 years ago, more than $1.5 million has been raised to benefit patients and families throughout this region and provide access to state-of-the-art healthcare services at Saint Francis.
