Saint Francis Medical Center proudly welcomes board certified internal medicine physician Jay D. Willey, MD, to its Medical Staff. He joins Cape Physician Associates, a generations-trusted primary care practice staffed by 11 other talented physicians. Practicing for more than 20 years, Willey has broad experience and has cared for patients of all ages. Taking a patient-focused approach, he spends time with patients to understand their unique health circumstances so he can best care for them and be an active health partner. Doing so allows him to offer insights to help patients make important healthcare decisions. Willey earned his medical degree at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield and completed a residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Willey provides routine checkups, tests and treatments, and referrals to skilled specialists when appropriate. He focuses on preventive care and lifelong wellness, but he also helps patients with chronic conditions manage their health concerns to preserve quality of life. He is an avid tennis player and enjoys spending time with his fiancée in his free time – gardening, traveling, and touring parks and the countryside on their motorcycle. It is important to establish a relationship with a primary care physician, like Willey – before injury or illness strikes. These physicians help monitor your health throughout your lifetime and can help head off health problems before they develop or become serious. It is a critical part of a lifelong wellness strategy.
