Saint Francis Medical Center celebrated the first baby delivered in Cape Girardeau in 2011. At 1:55 pm Saturday, January 1, a seven-pound, 12-ounce, 20 1/4-inch baby girl was welcomed into the world by proud parents Joel Hoffman and Mary Catherine Fetterhoff and big sister Emma, of Apple Creek, Mo., and caring Family BirthPlace nursing staff. To further welcome the new arrival, the Medical Center presented baby Bella Morgan Fetterhoff-Hoffman with a special basket of baby items.
The Saint Francis nursing staff recalls many unique names given to children throughout 2010, but some names appeared more often than others at the Saint Francis Family BirthPlace. For girls born at Saint Francis in 2010, the most popular name was Emma; and for boys, Elijah and Ethan. These names were followed closely by Abigail, Addison and Isabella for girls and Jackson, Jacob and Landon for boys. Names new on the list for 2010 were Layla and Stella for girls and Bentley and Caleb for boys. A popular name with variations for boys and girls was Gabriel/Gabriella.
In 2010, the Saint Francis Family BirthPlace had the most deliveries since opening in 2001 – 862 babies, including one set of triplets and 15 sets of twins. The busiest month was October, with 92 deliveries.
The first baby of 2011 at Saint Francis Medical Center, Bella Morgan, is welcomed to the world by proud parents Joel Hoffman and Mary Catherine Fetterhoff and big sister Emma, of Apple Creek, Mo.
