Area residents can test their endurance at the eighth annual Fitness Plus Indoor Triathlon on Saturday, March 2, beginning at 8 am. Held in the Saint Francis Health and Wellness Center, 150 S. Mount Auburn Road (entrance 8), the Indoor Triathlon will be a fun and challenging event for individuals of all interests and fitness levels.
The event, which will include competitive and non-competitive divisions, will feature a 300-yard swim in the lap pool, a five-mile ride on a stationary bicycle and a two-mile run on the indoor track. The goal is to finish all three events with the fastest time, with both individual and team competitions offered.
“An indoor triathlon may not be as physically challenging as an outdoor event, but it does require a lot of energy and determination to get through all of the stages,” says Doug Gannon, MSA, AFO, assistant manager of aquatics and recreation at Fitness Plus. “Anyone who has ever wondered how they would perform in a triathlon event should give our Indoor Triathlon a try.”
Individual entry fees are $25 for Fitness Plus members and $35 for nonmembers. Team entry fees (men, women and coed) are $40 for member teams and $50 for nonmember teams. Teams may consist of no more than three participants. Entry fees include awards, T-shirts and post-event refreshments.
Registration forms are available at the Fitness Plus Service Desk and online at www.fitnessplus.sfmc.net. For more information, call Doug Gannon at 573-331-5311.
