Thanks to Saint Francis Medical Center’s new app, the doctor’s office is just a touch away. The Saint Francis Medical Partners app, developed by Edward M. Bender, MD, FACS, cardiothoracic surgeon and section chair of cardiothoracic surgery at Saint Francis, allows users to search for those physicians or offices by name and then call or locate the address from within the app.
Users may also learn more about each physician, including specialties, medical schools attended and residencies completed. The app is available for free in the iTunes® App Store and will be updated regularly as more doctors and practices are added to Saint Francis Medical Partners.
Bender says the app will be useful for both patients and medical professionals. “Even within the Medical Center, I use it to quickly locate phone numbers to consult with colleagues or refer patients,” he says.
This is Bender’s 18th application developed for the iPhone®. He also has developed two iPad® apps. All of Bender’s apps are available in the iTunes App Store.
Bender earned his medical degree from Wayne State University, Detroit, Mich. He completed both his internship and residency at the University of Colorado Denver Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colo., before moving on to the University of Chicago Medical Center, Chicago, Ill., for his fellowship. Bender has continually brought new technology and procedures to Saint Francis during his 14-year tenure, and is currently using the da Vinci® robotic surgery system for minimally-invasive cardiothoracic surgery.
