The 2011 Jingle Bell Run and Walk benefiting the Arthritis Foundation® is now accepting individual and team registrations. Saint Francis Medical Center is the main corporate sponsor of the 2011 Run and Walk in Cape Girardeau on Saturday, December 10. The event will include a 5k run, one-mile walk and a Tot Trot starting and finishing at Fitness Plus, 150 S. Mount Auburn Road, Entrance 8.
The Jingle Bell Run raises awareness of the nation’s most common cause of disability, while also raising desperately needed funds to help find a cure for arthritis. According to the Arthritis Foundation, More than 46 million Americans have arthritis and some 300,000 are children.
Be one of the thousands of runners and walkers who hit the nation’s pavements, pathways and parks this winter to fight arthritis, the nation’s most common cause of disability. Wear holiday themed costumes or bells on your shoes and run or walk with your team and celebrate the season by giving to those who need it most.
Adult participants may register now or the day of the race beginning at 7:45 am. The race will begin Saturday at 9 am. The registration fee is $25; $15 for ages 14 and younger; and $5 for the Tot Trot (ages 6 and younger). All 5k and one-mile participants will receive a long-sleeved T-shirt, gloves and jingles for their shoelaces. Registration forms are available at Fitness Plus. Packet pickup and registration is at Fitness Plus on Friday, December 9, from 8 am to 8 pm, and Saturday, December 10, 7:45-8:45 am.
