Saint Francis Medical Center will offer a six-week breast cancer support group beginning January 8. Held on Tuesdays from 6 to 8 pm in the Health and Wellness Center Conference Room 1 (Entrance 8), this support group helps recently diagnosed breast cancer patients meet the common challenges and questions that arise after a cancer diagnosis.
Pam Lewis, RN, FNP-BC, a nurse practitioner and breast cancer nurse navigator at Saint Francis Womancare, will lead the group. Topics to be discussed in the sessions include: chemotherapy, radiation, nutrition, exercise, sexuality, beauty tips and more. Group members will also be encouraged to share individual stories. At its conclusion, participants who attend a minimum of five meetings will receive a complimentary three-month membership to Fitness Plus, Saint Francis’ award-winning fitness facility.
The group is free for all participants, no matter where they receive their cancer care. To register or learn more, call Saint Francis Womancare at 573-331-5209, ext. 2. This program is sponsored by the Cancer Care Fund at Saint Francis and strives to empower an individual’s mind, body and spirit with education and support.
