Black River Medical Center

Black River Medical Center opened June 18, 2012. The three-bed hospital was designed by local physicians who are vested and involved in day-to-day decisions and dedicated to pursuing excellence. The locally owned, not-for-profit hospital was created through a partnership between Poplar Bluff Medical Partners and Saint Francis Health System. The Medical Partners group was formed in 2001 by physicians who wanted to provide high-quality, affordable care locally.

Most healthcare needs can be met at the Poplar Bluff facility, patients who need specialized or critical care services have direct access to Saint Francis’ top specialists, state-of-the-art technology and powerful medical breakthroughs.  Many of the hospital’s trusted physicians and staff members were raised in the Poplar Bluff area and chose to practice medicine here at home. Black River provides them with an environment where they can  excel.

Black River Medical Center is an affordable and outstanding choice for inpatient hospitalization locally, the new hospital offers numerous other medical services for area patients, including emergency services, laboratory services, respiratory care, dietary services and a pharmacy. Patients typically pay lower out-of-pocket costs for diagnostic testing and other procedures at Black River than they would elsewhere. The emergency department has dedicated physician coverage 24/7 for overnight patient observation and  treatment of minor illnesses and injuries.

Black River Medical Center recently earned accreditation for all services by The Joint Commission, the nation’s foremost accrediting body in healthcare. This accreditation confirms that Black River meets or exceeds performance standards and provides safe, high-quality care to patients.
