Saint Francis Medical Center Offering Informational Events on Digestive Disorders
Saint Francis Medical Center is offering two free educational events on digestive disorders. The events will be held March 4 and April 22 in the Franciscan Room at the Medical Center and both will begin at 5:30 pm. Attendees will learn about common digestive disorders and their risk factors, symptoms and diagnosis from an experienced gastroenterologist.
"Complaints related to the digestive tract are some of the most common reasons we take over-the-counter medications, prescription medication or seek the advice of healthcare providers," explains Michael R. Freeman, MD, board certified gastroenterologist on staff at Saint Francis. That is why he is offering a presentation and question-answer session on the risk factors and symptoms for digestive disorders. Freeman will also explain the procedures and tests utilized in making a diagnosis, as well as common treatments prescribed to feel better.
There are many types of digestive disorders and the symptoms vary widely depending on the problem. Freeman recommends seeing a doctor if you have recently noticed:
- Blood in your stool
- Changes in bowel habits
- Severe abdominal pain
- Unintentional weight loss
- Heartburn not relieved by antacids
If you have concerns or questions regarding your digestive health, come get answers from an experienced gastroenterologist at Saint Francis, ranked in the Top 10 in Missouri for GI medical treatment by HealthGrades® in 2008.
