The Water Is Just Right at Fitness Plus

Thanks to Fitness Plus, you don't have to be a lap swimmer to enjoy the benefits of water exercise. At Saint Francis Medical Center's nationally recognized facility, group fitness water classes offer a refreshing alternative for water lovers.

 

"The beauty of water exercise is it can meet the needs of various people – athletes and nonathletes alike," says Toni Craft, BS, ACSM, AFAA, group fitness coordinator at Fitness Plus. "Water exercise is also excellent for people with joint problems because the body becomes buoyant. It eliminates the weight-bearing impact of hard surfaces."

 

Fitness Plus offers a regular schedule of group fitness water classes, including water walk, aqua abs, aqua kickboxing, regular and deep-water aerobics, and low-impact classes that focus on range of motion exercises for people with arthritis. Classes are free to Fitness Plus members; nonmembers may sign up for arthritis classes held in the heated therapy pool.
