Acute and chronic pain is defined as long-term, severe physical discomfort.
This disorder of the brain causes dementia, which is the degeneration of intellectual functions, such as memory.
Multiple sclerosis is a disease of the central nervous system that is thought to be the result of a malfunction in the immune system. This progressive disease causes loss of myelin (the fatty substance that covers and protects nerves) in the brain or spinal cord and can cause deterioration in muscle strength, eyesight, speech and all around movement.
Parkinson disease is a disorder of the nervous system caused by the decay of dopamine-producing brain cells. Symptoms include trembling hands, lack of facial expression and character in speech, as well as slower and more uncoordinated walking.
Epilepsy is caused by a disturbance in the brain's electrical system and causes a change in a person's consciousness and/or motor activity.
Spinal disorders are the disturbance of normal functioning of the spinal column and/or spinal cord.
Stroke occurs when blood stops flowing to the brain. Conditions resulting from a stroke may include the loss of consciousness, speech or partial movement.
