Affecting one in five adults, arthritis is the leading cause of disability in the United States. Cape Girardeau’s annual Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis raises awareness of the disease while helping raise funds to find a cure.
The event – sponsored by Saint Francis Medical Center and the Arthritis Foundation – takes place at Fitness Plus on Saturday, Dec. 14. Registration begins at 7:45 am with a start time of 9 am. Participants can choose the 5K run, the Tot Trot or the 1-mile walk (there are both outdoor and indoor options for the 1-mile walk).
Preregistration is $20, day-of registration is $25, 14 and younger registration is $15 and the Tot Trot is $5. All registrants – except those participating in the Tot Trot – receive a T-shirt. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes or holiday-themed clothes; judges will award prizes to the best-dressed runners and walkers.
