The Heart to Heart Luncheon, hosted by Saint Francis Medical Center and supported by committee members from the community, is an annual event committed to raising awareness of women’s unique risk factors for heart disease.
Held each spring, the luncheon features educational exhibits and free screenings prior to the keynote speaker and meal, as well as door prizes and gifts for each attendee.
The 2015 keynote speaker is Esther S.H. Kim, MD, MPH, women’s heart health expert and physician at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Kim is a researcher and physician on staff at Cleveland Clinic, specializing in general cardiology, preventive cardiology, women’s heart health, and vascular medicine. A graduate of Duke University School of Medicine, Dr. Kim also holds a master’s in public health from the University of North Carolina and completed an Internal Medicine residency at Johns Hopkins before coming to Cleveland Clinic where she completed fellowships in Cardiology and Vascular Medicine before joining the staff in 2008.
Proceeds from the Heart to Heart Luncheon goes to the Cardiac Rehabilitation Patient Scholarship fund at Saint Francis. These scholarships benefit female cardiac patients in need of financial assistance. Since the luncheons began in 2008, more than $30,000 has been raised and used through the scholarship.
The next luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Doors open at 10:30 am for exhibits and screenings and the keynote and meal begin at noon.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Sponsored tables of eight are available for $250. Order online here or purchase at the Fitness Plus Service Desk. For more information, call 573-331-5327.
