Saint Francis Medical Center is pleased to introduce Joseph B. Schuerger, MD, as a new family practice physician at Physicians Park Primary Care, a Saint Francis Medical Center Medical Partner. He joins a team of six skilled primary care physicians who provide high-quality, highly personalized primary care to adults and children in the Poplar Bluff.
He proudly served as a medical laboratory technician in the United States Air Force before receiving his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine in Columbia, Mo. He completed his family medicine residency at Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Ind. There, Schuerger was honored with the 2013 AAFP/Bristol-Myers Squibb Award for Excellence in Graduate Medical Education – a national award given to only 12 recipients each year.
Originally from Poplar Bluff, Schuerger chose family practice so that he could help make a positive difference in his community. He also enjoys the variety that comes with working with people young and old.
“We are happy to welcome Dr. Schuerger as a family practice physician at Physicians Park Primary Care. He will be a valuable addition to Saint Francis and the Poplar Bluff community – his hometown,” explains Steven C. Bjelich, FACHE-D, President and Chief Executive Officer of Saint Francis Medical Center.
