Lifestyle Changes to Manage Middle Ear Infections

Making certain lifestyle changes in your household may help reduce the risk of recurrent ear infections. These may include:
  • If you or anyone in your household smokes, talk to your doctor for help with quitting. Eliminating smoke also includes secondhand smoke.
  • Frequent hand washing.
