Men generally don’t advocate for their health as much as women. Some men completely avoid going to the doctor unless they are “really sick.” Unfortunately, men with this attitude can become blindsided by irreversible or incurable diseases that may have been prevented with a routine checkup. That is why Saint Francis is hosting its first-ever Better Health, Better Man: Men’s Health Event on Thursday, September 25, beginning at 6 pm with registration starting at 5 pm.
The free event, which takes place at Isle Casino Cape Girardeau, offers food and beverages, door prizes and a variety of speakers. Topics will include colon cancer, weight loss, heart health, diabetes, erectile dysfunction, low testosterone and more.
“Men can bring their spouse or significant other, or come alone,” says Vincenzo Galati, DO, FACS, board certified urologist at Saint Francis. “This event will have a very casual atmosphere and is an opportunity for men to empower themselves with important knowledge about their health.”
And while they are gathering more information about their health, participants may be able to go home with some free items, too. Door prizes include a YETI® Cooler, a Fitbit® FlexTM, a Fitness Plus Family Membership, gift cards and more. Additionally, a wide variety of local exhibitors will be on hand to provide information.
“The physicians and staff at Saint Francis are committed to disease prevention and improving the health of our community,” says Galati. “We are always looking for ways in which we can help the men and women of the region make healthy decisions.”
“We also welcome women who care about the health of men in their lives,” Galati continues. “All it takes is the right information at the right time to improve a man’s quality of living – or even save his life.”
To register or for more information, men (or their significant others) can call 573-331-3000.
