Step out with your favorite four-legged friend for Saint Francis Medical Center’s seventh annual Furry 5K on Saturday, June 6. The event gives dog lovers a chance to combine two of their favorite activities — staying fit and spending time with their pets.
“You do not need to bring a dog to participate,” says Sandy Duncan, MSA, ACSM, EP-C, health and wellness manager at Saint Francis. “Some people come just because they enjoy spending time around the dogs. Many participants dress their dogs in costume, which makes the event fun for everyone.”
The event begins at 8 am at Missouri Running Company, 1720 Kingshighway. The cost is $25, or $20 if registration is received by May 21. T-shirts are guaranteed for all who register by May 21. Saint Francis and its sponsors provide treats, water and waste bags for all participants, and top finishers receive trophies and medals. To register, log on to www.furry5k2015.eventbrite.com or stop by Fitness Plus or Missouri Running Company to pick up a registration form.
