Give Yourself a Healthy Treat – Massage Therapy

Establishing healthy eating habits and getting regular exercise are essential to achieving your weight-loss goals. That is why Saint Francis Medical Center’s medically integrated fitness facility, Fitness Plus, offers a full spectrum of education and wellness programs to support you and keep you on track. This includes advice from personal trainers and classes on healthy eating, managing diabetes, starting an exercise program and more.

You may already know about these programs; however, one Fitness Plus service you may not have considered is…massage therapy.

Massage therapy offers numerous health benefits, including some that can help with weight loss:

  • Hot Stone Therapy – A deeply-soothing and relaxing technique in which hot stones are used to massage the body.
  • Myofascial Release – A gentle stretching technique often used to relieve discomfort due to exercise. When muscles are injured, the surrounding tissue (fascia) can tighten up, causing soreness. The therapist lightly stretches the tight area to relax it.
  • Prenatal Massage – Tailored for pregnant women to relax sore muscles and improve circulation.
