Saint Francis Healthcare System’s Certified Nurse Midwives Program offers a holistic approach to pregnancy and childbirth. Our certified midwives, the first in Cape Girardeau County, are trained specialists who provide individualized care to patients through each stage of pregnancy. This care includes education, clinical care, advice and support.
The program’s midwives, Tracy Carr, RN, CNM, Megan Keeney, RN, FNP-BC, CNM and Meredith J. Gruenwald, FNP-BC, CNM, see patients at Cape Primary Care and Cape Care for Women, and deliver babies at the Family BirthPlace.
“At Saint Francis, we work in collaboration with the OBs at Cape Care for Women to make sure our patients’ preferences and needs are a top priority,” says Keeney. “Our goal is to make sure we deliver happy, healthy babies.”
While midwifery can be a good option for patients who have no complications during their pregnancy and delivery, it is not appropriate for high-risk pregnancies. Saint Francis has highly qualified specialists to care for women who have medical concerns during their pregnancy.
