If you have a problem with your breasts, you do not want to wait days to find out what is wrong. That is why Saint Francis Medical Center’s Womancare delivers priority mammogram results to women with breast problems.
The American Cancer Society recommends women undergo annual mammograms beginning at age 40. However, if a woman or her physician notice a lump or change in breast tissue, she may need to come to Womancare for a diagnostic mammogram.
“Our radiologist is able to read the diagnostic mammogram and send the patient for an ultrasound if necessary,” says Trinka Hileman, RN, BSN, MBA, director of radiology services and Womancare at Saint Francis. “Then, if the patient needs a surgical consult, we have an on-site surgeon and nurse practitioner who are available that same day. The quick results help ease some of the patient’s worries about the unknown.”
