Establishing a relationship with a primary care physician is essential, says Laura E. Glueck, DO, family practice physician, Saint Francis Medical Partner. Glueck sees patients at Jackson Family Care.
“A primary care physician will help keep you up to date on all the screenings you need, such as mammograms and colonoscopies,” says Glueck. “You need someone who is aware of your medical history. Some younger people may not think they need a primary care physician, but in reality, they could have medical conditions, such as high blood pressure, that need monitoring. As a primary care physician, we take care of individuals from birth to elderly, managing a wide range of conditions, patient concerns and providing education to patients.”
Originally from Oak Ridge, Mo., Glueck attended medical school at A.T. Still University-Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Mo., and completed her family medicine residency at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences-AHED Northeast in Jonesboro, Ark. She enjoys spending time outdoors hunting, fishing and playing softball.
