Thirty years ago, your best tools to lose weight and stay in shape were a pen and paper. Now, there are apps to help you keep track of every aspect of staying healthy.
“I tell some of my patients about the Lose It! app, which helps you set a daily calorie budget, track food and exercise and set goals based on your current weight,” says Janna R. Crosnoe, MD, family practice physician at Saint Francis Medical Center. “Devices and apps such as this one make you more aware of what you are eating and how much you are exercising.”
If you choose to use one of these apps, however, be prepared to keep up with it several times a day. “If you are interested in numbers and devices, you will be more successful with these tools, which require large amounts of data from you,” says Crosnoe.
