February is American Heart Month, making it the perfect time to get a free heart screening at Saint Francis Healthcare System.
The free Heart & Health Screenings are offered every Wednesday in February. Normally, heart health screenings are $30. Space is limited so call 573-331-5111 to register.
Heart & Health Screenings require a 10- to 12-hour fast beforehand. During the fast, drink plenty of water and continue taking prescription medications (with water only).
“I believe it is important to check your cholesterol and fasting glucose to see if you are at risk for diabetes, heart disease and strokes,” said Duc Nguyen, DO with Cape Cardiology Group. “More importantly, it allows you to take active measures to reduce your chance of suffering a stroke or heart attack AND live a healthy life.”
The free Heart & Health Screenings include a total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, cardiac risk ratio, glucose and blood pressure check.
The screenings are located at the Saint Francis Medical Center Health and Wellness Conference Center at 150 S. Mount Auburn Road (Entrance 8) on Feb. 5 and Feb. 19 from 7-10 am both days. Screenings will also be held at Saint Francis Health Center – Poplar Bluff located at 225 Physicians Park Drive Suite 400, First Floor on Feb. 12 from 8-11 am. Ferguson Medical Group – Sikeston at 1012 North Main Street will host screenings on Feb. 26 from 7:30-10:30 am.
