Fitness Plus will host Senior Health & Fitness Day Thursday, May 16, from 10 am to noon. Edward Leoni, ReD, Life Coach and retired professor, will present “Make the Rest of Your Life the BEST of Your Life!” from 10:30 to 11:30 am in the Health and Wellness Center Conference Rooms, 150 S. Mount Auburn Road (Entrance 8).
During the last week of May, an estimated 100,000 older adults will participate in local fitness activities throughout the country as part of the 20th annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day, the nation’s largest health promotion event for older adults. This year’s theme is “Think Healthy, Eat Healthy, Act Healthy … Be Healthy!”
Following the presentation, attendees may visit the Las Vegas-themed health fair, which will include free health screenings, games, exercise demonstrations, healthy snacks, door prizes and the chance to ask questions of healthcare professionals. The health fair will be held in the Multipurpose Room.
This is a free event for Fitness Plus members and nonmembers ages 50 and older. The first 100 guests will receive a free gift and all nonmembers will receive a two-day trial membership to Fitness Plus.
Organized as a public/private good health partnership by the Mature Market Resource Center, National Senior Health & Fitness Day will offer fitness activities for older adults at more than 1,000 locations, including hospitals, parks and recreation departments, senior centers, health clubs, retirement communities, houses of worship, health departments and other community locations.
