David Prather, Chief Financial Officer at Saint Francis Healthcare System, is retiring after 24 years. He has been a driving force to make access to healthcare more available and healthcare more affordable during his tenure.
David Prather joined Saint Francis 24 years ago in 1995, having previously worked for accounting firms Kerber, Eck & Braeckel; Baird, Kurtz, & Dobson; and Laventhol & Horwath. In 2003, he was promoted to Saint Francis Controller, managing various financial duties. In December 2017, he was named Chief Financial Officer after the retirement of Tony Balsano.
“What I’ve enjoyed most about my career at Saint Francis is the fact I’ve been able to work through financial details and cost-saving measures with clinical staff to improve finances,” Prather said. “I am proud that very soon Saint Francis will reduce prices for the second time in two years. It certainly helps the community access and afford much needed healthcare.”
Prather is a Certified Public Accountant. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Southern Illinois University, where he graduated Magna cum Laude, before earning his MBA from the same institution. While attending Southern Illinois University, he was a member of Beta Alpha Psi Accounting Society. He is a member of Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
Prather says he will miss the people he works with on a daily basis the most. He looks forward to spending more time with family which includes two children and two granddaughters…and perfecting his golf swing.
