Saint Francis Healthcare System announces the appointment of Mark Schultz, BSN, RN, as director of physician practices at Saint Francis Medical Center.
In this role, Schultz will be responsible for the planning, development, implementation, operation, coordination and performance improvement of all activities within Hospitalist Services to ensure that services are provided in accordance with the policies, procedures, philosophy, mission, values and strategic initiatives of Saint Francis. This is in addition to his role as director of Occupational Health Services.
Hospitalists are doctors who focus on the general medical care of hospitalized patients from admission to discharge 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They help ensure a seamless continuum of care among primary care doctors, physician specialists and inpatient care providers. Saint Francis has 14 hospitalist providers in internal medicine and pediatrics.
Schultz joined Saint Francis in September 1996. He worked as a nurse assistant in Neurosciences, a registered nurse in Progressive Care and as manager of the Wound Healing Center before being named director of Occupational Medicine.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in nursing from Southeast Missouri State University in 2000.
