Barnette Receives Missouri Chapter Award from American Academy of Pediatrics

Alan R. Barnette, MD, FAAP, Neonatologist at Cape Neonatology Specialists, a Saint Francis Medical Partner, received a Missouri Chapter Award at the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Virtual Chapter Award Ceremony for his role as a subject matter expert in the collaborative grant awarded to the Kansas and Missouri AAP for the performance improvement project on Adolescent Immunization.

According to the AAP, 15 practices participated in this quality improvement project to increase adolescent immunization rates. The participating practices committed to the project and worked virtually to share their ideas and develop plans to increase the rate of immunization.

“It was wonderful to be a part of these individual and system changes impacting immunization rates for a population that is typically challenging to reach,” said Barnette. “The adolescent vaccines are opportunities to improve lives by safely preventing cancer and infections.”
