Saint Francis Gynecology

The specialists and surgeons at Saint Francis offer years of experience in caring for patients with the most complex gynecologic conditions. Using advanced techniques, surgeons can diagnose or treat patients, often using minimally invasive surgery techniques that do not require a major incision. Saint Francis gynecology treats the following conditions:

  • Endometriosis
  • Incontinence
  • Fibroid cysts
  • Polycystic ovarian syndrome
  • Excessive menstrual bleeding
  • Chronic pelvic pain
  • Ovarian and cervical cancer

Gynecology Surgery

Saint Francis gynecology uses the da Vinci® S HD™ Surgical System for many of its surgeries. This revolutionary system uses the high-definition cameras and 3-D visualization to achieve even better outcomes. Because this surgery is minimally invasive, patients experience reduced trauma to the body, reduced blood loss and need for transfusions, less postoperative pain and discomfort, less risk of infection and a shorter hospital stay. Patients recover faster and return to normal daily activities quickly with less scarring. Saint Francis gynecology uses da Vinci robotic surgery for the following procedures:

  • Cancer-related hysterectomy
  • Noncancer-related hysterectomy
  • Surgery for uterine or vaginal prolapse

Gynecology Exams and Screenings

The United States Preventive Services Task Force recommends that women receive a regular pelvic exam beginning at age 21, repeating the test every three years until age 29. Screenings may be reduced to five years if you have reached the age of 30, with the addition of a human papillomavirus (HPV) screening. You may choose to stop these tests when you reach 70 if you have had three normal tests in the row and have seen no abnormal results in the previous 10 years.
